August 2008

Have you ever heard of Wordle? It’s an online tool that lets you create word clouds from text you provide or text on your website. Here’s one for my blog:

I love that “Stampin” is so big…but look at “chocolate.” Right near “chip.” 🙂

You can modify the colors, the font, and the layout. Neat, huh?

…and went to bed. But then I realized this is a challenge – “challenge” being the operative word. 🙂

Here’s the inspiration for Kristina’s color challenge this week:

Here’s my card:

Isn’t this a beautiful color combination? Plus, I LOVE the bow. One of the guests at a recent workshop showed me a trick to making a perfect bow everytime. So easy and it really works! Thanks, Theresa!

Supplies:

  • Chocolate chip, very vanilla, regal rose, pink pirouette and certainly celery cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Chocolate chip ink
  • Sentiment from Always stamp set
  • Damask background stamp (Stamp Camp)
  • Scallop edge punch (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Brown ribbon (Offray)

Since I went on vacation – and came back – I haven’t done much stamping. So I was happy to see a new color challenge from Kristiana Werner. Thought I’d give it a shot and try to give my stamping a jump start.

Here’s the inspiration:

And my entry:

I did a bunch of embossing on this card and decided not to include a sentiment on the outside. I love the pop of bright pink.

Supplies:

  • Whisper white, basic black, basic gray, pink passion cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Embrace Life stamp set (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Black, white, and iridescent ice embossing powders
  • Versamark pad
  • Scallop edge punch (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Black brad
  • Pewter ribbon (Offray)

It’s been silent on my blog for a couple weeks. I was on vacation and had a great time! We headed up north into Ontario, Canada and relaxed by the water. I read several books, one of which was The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It was a great book. I am saddened to hear that he passed away on July 25th. If you have a chance to view his last lecture online and/or read his book, I highly recommend it. It really makes you stop and think about your own life, how you live it, what your passions are, and how you relate with other people in your life – most especially your loved ones.

When I got home, I had a few Stampin’ Up packages waiting for me. Wahoo! A few items from the new catalog and couple from the current catalog. Once I get my post-vacation act together, I’m going to get back to stamping and posting my creations here.

I’ve heard from some demonstrators who attended the SU! convention that the new catalog and new products are exciting. Keep an eye out here and I’ll share the news with you.

Hope you’re doing well, enjoying your summer, and having fun creating!
