June 2008

I’m so glad I have the time to participate in Kristina Werner’s Color Challenge this week. I love this color combination! Here’s the inspiration:

Color Challenge 12 Inspiration

Since I don’t have any wild wasabi paper or ink, I had to get a little creative. I ended up using a combination of green Prismacolor pencils and green cardstock from Wild Asparagus. In a pinch, I think it’s pretty close!

Color Challenge 12 Entry

Supplies:

  • Whisper White, So Saffron, Sahara Sand, and green (from Wild Asparagus) card stock
  • A Little Bit of Happiness stamp set (hostess set)
  • Basic gray ink pad
  • Prismacolor colored pencils
  • Swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder

My niece, Taylor, had the great idea to have a luau to celebrate Independence Day. We’re all excited to wear our grass skirts and leis and celebrate in pseudo-Hawaiian style. I made the invites using the Creative Imaginations paper as my springboard. Each invite had a different image cut out on the front. Here’s the front of one of the invites:

No stamping involved in this one at all! 🙂

Supplies:

  • Brown, light green, whisper white, and rust cardstock
  • Creative Imaginations patterned paper
  • Orange ribbon from Michael’s
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities

I created the party details in InDesign and adhered to the back of the card:

I’m looking forward to this party!

Great news! Stampin’ Up is releasing a new product line beginning on July 1st! It’s a line of self-adhesive vinyl wall art. So cool. I’ve seen these all over and have wanted to use them in my own home. Now’s a great time to give it a shot. These easy-to-apply (and remove) pieces of wall art complement Stampin’ Up’s current line of stamps. Here’s a look at the first round of products: SU Decor Elements Brochure

Feel free to contact me if you’re interested in ordering!

As each catalog sales period comes to an end, Stampin’ Up! retires a select list of stamps sets and accessories. These products will not be available in future catalogs, so if anything on your wish list is retiring, you have until August 10, 2008, to order. The new fall catalog will be released on August 11th!

I’ll share the list of retiring accessories after July 21 when they’re announced!

Haley is our 7 1/2 year old English Springer Spaniel. She absolutely loves the garden, and doesn’t really mind rolling over our perennials and flowers. Hope the plants are hardy!

Sometimes I just don’t have the time to participate in challenges. But, since I’ve had fun doing two so far, I’m going to try to fit more in.

This card is for Beate‘s Be Inspired Challenge #17. She chose a black and white pillow from Coldwater Creek as the inspiration.

I have to admit that white embossing on black cardstock was a bit more challenging than I thought it would be. Some of my whites aren’t as white as I’d like, but at the same time, I like the effect! 🙂

I also wanted to work on my paper cutting, hence the small flower near the sentiment. My cutting isn’t always even all the way around – pretty close this time, though!

Black and white color challenge

Supplies:

  • Basic black and whisper white cardstock from Stampin’ Up
  • Baroque Motifs stamp set from Stampin’ Up
  • Brilliance moonlight white pigment ink
  • White embossing powder from Joann Fabrics
  • Black satin ribbon
  • White uni-ball Signo gel pen

Last night, my Mom, sister, sister-in-law, and three nieces came over to do some stamping. We had lots of fun and I managed to get a card made for Father’s Day.

Father\'s Day card

  • Black, red, green, and cream cardstock
  • Striped patterned paper (I bought this paper years ago!)
  • Stampin’ Write markers (borrowed from my Mom!)
  • Green grosgrain ribbon

(Sorry I can’t remember where I purchased some of my materials. Several years ago I went to Hollo’s PaperCraft in Brunswick, Ohio, where they sell cardstock by the pound. I’m still using up that stock!)
