Have you heard about Jen del Muro’s fabulous blog candy? Companies including Cornish Heritage Farms, Scor Pal, Flourishes, Verve, Unity Stamp Company, Storage Units Inks and More, Just Rite Stampers, and many more have donated to this fantastic cause. Jen has asked stampers to send cards to Dallas Baptist University for their international students. Remember being in college and how lonesome it can get? I can’t imagine being thousands of miles away from home and in school, so I hope my card brings some joy to a student.

It’s been a long time since I participated in one of Kristina’s color challenges. It’s freezing outside and I’m in hibernation mode…what a perfect opportunity to get back into the swing of all things stamping. :)

38_swatch

This challenge uses the colors ruby red, pretty in pink, pumpkin pie and whisper white. I had fun with this one and used some stamps I bought a while ago and just haven’t had a chance to use. Enjoy…and I’ll be back tomorrow! Stay warm.

Promise I’ll be back with some posts and ideas sooner rather than later.

Kristina’s color challenge 21 was a bit daunting this week. 5 very strong colors…and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them.

Here’s the inspiration:

Here’s what I came up with:

Simple card but it really highlights the beautiful lines of the goldfish. I love these challenges – they really help me think outside of what I would normally do. Plus, I love seeing everyone else’s interpretations.

I’m definitely going to work on my photos. This pic doesn’t do justice to the colors. I’ll try taking my cards outside, as Kristina suggested. For now, I have to take them indoors because I keep finishing my cards when it’s dark out. I’ll have to come up with a new plan once winter hits! :)

Supplies:

  • Kiwi kiss, pacific point, rose red, regal rose, and whisper white cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Goldfish stamp (Paper Source)
  • Versamark ink
  • White embossing powder
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder
  • Dew Drops (The Robin’s Nest)
  • Mini glue dots and dimensionals

Have you ever heard of Wordle? It’s an online tool that lets you create word clouds from text you provide or text on your website. Here’s one for my blog:

I love that “Stampin” is so big…but look at “chocolate.” Right near “chip.” :)

You can modify the colors, the font, and the layout. Neat, huh?

…and went to bed. But then I realized this is a challenge – “challenge” being the operative word. :)

Here’s the inspiration for Kristina’s color challenge this week:

Here’s my card:

Isn’t this a beautiful color combination? Plus, I LOVE the bow. One of the guests at a recent workshop showed me a trick to making a perfect bow everytime. So easy and it really works! Thanks, Theresa!

Supplies:

  • Chocolate chip, very vanilla, regal rose, pink pirouette and certainly celery cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Chocolate chip ink
  • Sentiment from Always stamp set
  • Damask background stamp (Stamp Camp)
  • Scallop edge punch (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Brown ribbon (Offray)

Since I went on vacation – and came back – I haven’t done much stamping. So I was happy to see a new color challenge from Kristiana Werner. Thought I’d give it a shot and try to give my stamping a jump start.

Here’s the inspiration:

And my entry:

I did a bunch of embossing on this card and decided not to include a sentiment on the outside. I love the pop of bright pink.

Supplies:

  • Whisper white, basic black, basic gray, pink passion cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Embrace Life stamp set (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Black, white, and iridescent ice embossing powders
  • Versamark pad
  • Scallop edge punch (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Black brad
  • Pewter ribbon (Offray)

It’s been silent on my blog for a couple weeks. I was on vacation and had a great time! We headed up north into Ontario, Canada and relaxed by the water. I read several books, one of which was The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It was a great book. I am saddened to hear that he passed away on July 25th. If you have a chance to view his last lecture online and/or read his book, I highly recommend it. It really makes you stop and think about your own life, how you live it, what your passions are, and how you relate with other people in your life – most especially your loved ones.

When I got home, I had a few Stampin’ Up packages waiting for me. Wahoo! A few items from the new catalog and couple from the current catalog. Once I get my post-vacation act together, I’m going to get back to stamping and posting my creations here.

I’ve heard from some demonstrators who attended the SU! convention that the new catalog and new products are exciting. Keep an eye out here and I’ll share the news with you.

Hope you’re doing well, enjoying your summer, and having fun creating!

Once again, I love the colors Kristina chose for her Color Challenge 15. These colors are right up my alley. I love green and brown together; it’s a beautiful combination. Here’s the inspiration:

And here’s the card I created:

I used Adirondack Dimensional Pearls in lettuce (OK, not celery, but pretty close!). They add a bit of shimmer and dimension. Here’s a closeup:

I can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Supplies:

  • Certainly celery, chocolate chip, close to cocoa, really rust and whisper white cardstock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Always stamp set (Stampin’ Up)
  • Chocolate Chip ink pad (Stanpin’ Up)
  • Dimensional pearls in lettuce (Adirondack)
  • Nestabilities and Cuttlebug
  • Brown grosgrain ribbon
  • Dimensional adhesives
